QOTW: Have you ever participated in a lottery?

Dolly lotteries are interesting in that participants put their names in to win the opportunity to purchase a doll, not to win the doll itself. I remember way back when I was new to Blythe and I heard about these lotteries and I thought it meant that you won the doll. After all, that was what my experience with ‘lotteries’ was. Get a ticket, win a prize! Not put your name in, win the chance to fork up money!

Alas, that is often what gets done via Junie Moon for new releases from time to time. After they had experienced server crashes over people attempting to purchase a doll on a release day, I can’t blame them for trying something new. With the lottery, you have people entering in their names over a period of time, which helps lessen the strain on the website by having the same number of people access it over a longer period of time. And then you can just email out to people when they’ve ‘won’ and winners get a period of time before they have to pay for it (usually a couple of days).

There are some dolls, looking back now, I wish I had at least tried out the lottery for. A couple anniversary dolls (Red Delicious!) and, if I had the funds, Cherry Beach Sunset. At least if I had the opportunity, the doll(s) would be an option.

Have you ever participated in a lottery to purchase a doll? Who have you “won”?

Yes and I have won a few…wish I won this tanned lady!

I put in for Cherry Beach Sunset and didn’t win and I thought I’d put in for Dauphine Dream on a whim.. and I just saw that I did win her! lol When I told my friend that I won the lottery for the doll, he also thought it was crazy that it was just to purchase her. Literally the first thing I’ve ever ‘won!’ Good thing I saved some money up!

I’ve tried twice – first for spright beauty and the second time for cherry beach. Did not win either girls :-/ I’m not particularly lucky with these sort of things

I’ve never participated in a lottery. At times I’ve been tempted, but there hasn’t really been a release that I must have and therefore do everything in my power to get it. I have a friend who entered a lottery once just for the fun of it and when she actually won, she didn’t know what to do.

I entered the lottery for Cherry Beach Sunset (it’s the first Blythe lottery that I entered), and told my best friend to enter too (she’s been wanting a tan doll), and SHE won!! It’s pretty fun. I like having a free lottery and buying the prize, rather than paying for a ticket to potentially win nothing. 😉

I’ve entered quite a few! I think I entered the one for Regina Irwen. And then late last year/early this year I won three in a row! (Junie Moonie Cutie, Marrakech and Sprite Beauty). Unfortunately my luck ran out and I didn’t win Cherry Beach Sunset 🙁

I’ve entered for Curly Blue Babe, Junie Moonie Cutie, Cherry Beach Sunset, Spright Beauty, and Dauphine Dream. I ended up winning Spright and Dauphine but I’d much rather have won Cherry.

I’m new to Blythe and entered the latest lottery just because I wanted to make sure I got a “real” doll. I won and should be receiving her soon! Can’t wait! Thanks for such an insightful website!

  9. Susan says:

I entered for Cherry Beach but did not win. I was very disappointed. I ended up buying her on the secondary market and paid quite a bit more. But I love her.
