Treasures For Dollars: Item 1

Treasures For Dollars is a new mini-series that does belong in the Blythe On A Budget article series but is completely focused on things that I actually find (and buy) from dollar stores and other similar stores. It will alternate with Blythe On A Budget articles for the next little while until the finale of the mini-series (at Part 10). I hope you enjoy the series!
I’m a sucker for all things cute – which is probably why I have a half-dozen Blythes! I like small things, but haven’t managed to get sucked into buying re-ment by the crate (yet). I’m always on the look-out for small cute things that are in the right scale for Blythe as I don’t collect other dolls. One of my favourite recent finds was actually purchased back in August when I went to a local dolly meet.
We met up in the food court of a mall to hang out – we all shopped at the mall, bought mildly overpriced food at the mall and just hung around and had a great time. There’s a store in the mall (Daiso) which is a lot like a dollar store, but most everything in the store is priced at $2 with some exceptions (food is priced below or above $2, some larger items are priced higher/accordingly). And I picked up this little gem there…
Isn’t it cute? I’m really glad that I got it back in August, I went to the store again just on Monday and they did not have it in stock anymore – they did have the same item but in silver instead of black. It’s super cute and a little bit large for Blythe’s hands, but I really just wanted it as a charm for one of my doll’s pullstrings and it’s a good scale in comparison to the size of their rather large heads (ego??). The nice thing is that it already comes on a string so I can easily connect it to my doll’s existing pull string or use the string for another project.
What’s a good inexpensive dolly-find you discovered recently?
I’m not sure where you are but the Daiso nearest to me in Richmond, BC has plastic dolls they sell that look sort of like barbies but a bit smaller and their clothes (sold in separate sets) fit Blythe fairly well.
Hi Nancy! I’m in BC too 😀 I have several of those outfits too, I’ve turned their shoes into earrings for me though, because they don’t fit well on Blythe.
I usually buy little girl hair clips at bows at the Dollar Store. Cute, cheap, and come in colors my Blythes love!
