”4alissia.com”

As many of you in the Blythe community are aware, a group of us have been working a project called 4alissia in our efforts to raise money to help pay for Alissia’s medical expenses (you can read more about Alissia at her parents’ blog or on the 4alissia.com website).

The first auction took place in April with a Mo’Betta Custom (Simply Vanilla base) with a whole load of goodies. This second auction features a Bud <3 Sissy (Soni) custom with a BlytheFairy (Sadi) reroot and also comes with a lot of fantastic little things like hand crafted accessories and clothes.

You can check out this fantastic auction over at eBay, where you can bid until May 26th (Thursday).

All of the items for these auctions were donated by wonderful members of the Blythe community and the gorgeous custom needs a home! Please remember that the money raised goes towards a very special little girl as she fights cancer, so every little bit helps!

smidge house press release

Hello, Everyone!

Michelle has been kind enough to give me this platform to announce my Blythe related news. So, for those of you who may not have heard, the Smidge House Etsy Shop will be closing it’s doors for good on Friday, May 20, 2011.

It’s been a wonderful adventure, and I have loved designing and creating 1/6 size goodies for people who love them as much as I do! It’s also led me to fall in love with Blythe, and create things with her in mind, which has added so much to the fun! As much as I will miss the shop, and being able to share my work with all of you, it’s time for me to move on. Happily, I will still be working in sixth scale, designing small scale sets for television and film. 🙂

I’d like to thank all of you for the love and support you have shown me and the Smidge House shop for the last year and a half. I’ve met some amazing and talented people, and certainly some lifelong friends. 🙂 I appreciate your kind words, your encouragement, and of course, your business, more than I could ever hope to express! And, of course, I thank you for sharing your love of Blythe, which has drained my bank account, but left me very happy, lol!

If you would like to grab some goodies for your Blythe dolls before I close up shop, please feel free to use the coupon code BLYTHE10 at checkout to receive 10% off all of your purchases.

If you would like to keep up with me during my new adventures, feel free to follow along on the Smidge House blog: http://smidgehouse.blogspot.com. I will continue to update when I have 1/6 related news to share.

Big hugs to you all, and I hope you have enjoyed shopping at Smidge House!

Luv,
Carmen AKA smidge girl

FAQ: On being a minor and entering giveaways

Written on April 22, 2011 at 12:00 pm by Michelle

I received a lovely email recently from 12 year old girl asking if she was allowed to enter giveaways that are hosted on BlytheLife.com.

The official policy on BlytheLife.com (and you and your parent or guardian can find more information on the Privacy Policy) is that we do require that minors have permission from their parents or guardians prior to entering giveaways. I do not require individuals to mail in identification to validate their ages and honestly, I don’t want to take that route either. The moment that anyone enters a giveaway on BlytheLife.com, the person is declaring that they have read the giveaway information and other relevant (read: Privacy Policy) information on the website, and thus agreeing with having either permission or being in the age of majority.

If you would like to enter a giveaway on BlytheLife.com and you are under your own country’s age of majority, please ask (and receive!) permission first. This is especially important as if you were to win a giveaway, you would be required to provided your mailing information (name and a valid mailing address) to the person/people sponsoring the giveaway.

If you are the parent of a child who loves Blythe and would like more information regarding how giveaways are handled, please contact me.

On entering giveaways on BlytheLife.com…

It’s pretty much ridiculous that I need to mention this:

But if you are caught cheating for more entries on giveaways hosted on BlytheLife.com, you will be permanently banned from future giveaways and all of the entries on the giveaway you are found cheating on will also be removed from the giveaway.

I send out an email and give the potential offender 24 hours to respond in case of a misunderstanding, I don’t just delete the entries straightaway. Those who are unable to provide me with a sufficient reason as to why I should allow any of the entries to stay will be considered banned.

In this day and age, I should not have to tell people that cheating is not allowed or even have to police this.

You will be suspected of cheating if you comment for entries with a) different names but the same email address or b) have the same IP address as ‘someone else’ who has entered. I don’t like having to check through dozens of entries to ensure that everyone has legitimate entries, but I do so in order to ensure that everyone has a fair chance of winning.

People who are banned from entering giveaways will not be banned from commenting on other posts, but if they attempt to enter giveaways, their entries will be removed/not counted.

And I don’t want this to be a negative post, I would like to thank everyone who has been following the rules and not trying to cheat their way into extra entries in the giveaways that I host here on BlytheLife.com with the help of the beloved interviewees.

Please remember that BlytheLife.com is a not-for-profit website. I don’t make any money from running this website and I would like to ask that you show some respect and appreciation for the time that I have spent building this website but also the efforts of everyone else who graciously allow me to interview them and help sponsor/provide prizes for the giveaways hosted here.
