Love, Sophie: Why Having Sisters is (Sometimes) Okay

Hello, my wonderful fans! Have you missed me? Because I have missed you! Today I am here to talk about why having sisters is okay sometimes okay. When I’m not tapping away at the keyboard of the laptop to “talk” to all of you, I live with a bunch of sisters, both older (Kenners) and young (Middie, Petites). It is hard sometimes to have so many siblings because it means that there is more sharing involved. And do you know how much I like to share? Not at all.

Don't drop me!
Shoes stolen from Belarus.

The nicest thing about having siblings is that when they move in, they bring a wardrobe with them, and shoes! Shoes are the best part of getting new sisters, because it means more shoes for me. It’s not that the shoes don’t fit my sisters, they do, but it’s kind of an unspoken rule that the shoes become mine the moment that they arrive. There is, essentially, a “shoe fee” for becoming a new sister here. If you want in, you’re going to have to bring me a new pair of shoes! The best sister arrival ever was Belarus (Love Mission) because she brought me two pairs of shoes. I learned from the very beginning to collect a shoe fee. The worst sister arrival was when Primrose and Lillian arrived. Not only did they pretty much show up naked (and without legs, to boot!), they didn’t bring shoes with them. The only saving grace that they had was the fact that Michelle was all obsessed with them (ugh) and bought a lot of shoes after they had arrived. Best thing ever. I confiscated all the shoes for my own closet, of course.

In earnest, I sorta like my sisters. Sometimes. Sometimes they’re okay. If Michelle brings anyone new home, they’d better come with some cute shoes. I’ll take some nice ankle boots, preferably black leather with a cute slouch look.

Love, Sophie: A Couple Secrets from the Humans

Hello, my adoring fans! It’s time for a little love from me, Sophie! Did you miss me? I bet you did!

I thought I’d share some dolly secrets with you all, yes dolly secrets. It’s secrets that we, the Blythes, have from you, the humans. And don’t worry, my plastic-fans! You and I both know that the humans will just brush this off because there’s no way that their sweet, innocent little Blythes would ever do anything wrong.

Secret the First: We know your log-in information. For everything. Yes, this includes your email (so we know when you ‘won’ that eBay auction for a new sister) and your Paypal account. Did you not think it odd that several new lots of shoes arrived in the mail? You probably chalked it up to late-night bidding and drinking a wee bit too much… Don’t worry, it could have been that as well. *coughcough*

Let's see...

Secret the Second: When we say that we’re pleased about having a new sister, we’re likely lying. And if we say we’re not lying, we’re definitely lying. Nobody is ever happy about a new sibling. Just ask your own children if they relish the idea of sharing all their toys and clothes with a younger version of themselves. And when we get older? Definitely not. I have sisters who think my shoe closet is fair game. My shoe closet. No, nobody is ever happy. I don’t mind them, I suppose, but I’d be an only doll if I had the choice! Except for maybe Kindred, everydoll needs a sidekick.

Secret the Third: … I think I’ve said enough for now! I may be inclined to share more later! Teehee!

Love, Sophie: Gold and Silver are In

Move over pink, there’s a new colour in town. I know there are some people who adore the colour pink, but it’s just so over by now (sorry, Eden!). With the Olympics right around the corner, I want to remind you all of some really great colours: gold, silver and bronze. More importantly, you should all be decked out in these colours. Now, maybe not necessarily bronze (that is third place, after all!) but definitely gold and silver. More gold and silver, I say!

Gold and silver look great – regardless if it’s super shiny or kinda dulled down to not look too flashy. You can’t be too covered in sequins in the office (or so Michelle tells me), which is kind of boring in a way, but if you want to stay employed in order to buy more friends like me it may be good idea. Now, there is such a thing as “over doing” something. You don’t want to be like my little sister Eden and only ever wear one colour. That’s just awful and, frankly a bit boring. No, if you’re going to go with gold or silver, you should pair it off with another colour. Maybe one that won’t over power the metallic sheen because that would defeat the purpose.

Here’s a look at some of the clothes that I’ve pulled together. Now wearing all of this would be a little overkill (because, hello, wearing two dresses at the same time?), but a little gold or silver here and there works out well! And with that, I’m all ready for the Olympics as I cheer on Team Canada, how about you?

Love, Sophie: *My* Gift Recommendations!

It’s almost my favourite time of the whole year! What is so fantastic about it? Gifts, of course! I’m quite fond of gifts. Unfortunately, due to the sheer amount of sisters that I have, we tend to receive ‘group’ gifts. So things that are shared amongst us,although I try to remind my sisters that I was here first and therefore I should have first dibs. That seems fair, doesn’t it? First come, first served, first dibs! That and I am the only one that Michelle has entrusted with her Paypal details… (This is not true, Sophie! I’ve changed it now!)

My best holiday gift ideas for your Blythes are as follows; Michelle, take note!

  1. Get yourself to your local Ikea (or just the Ikea website!) and get a HUSET for your dolls! Possibly the best furniture set that has come out for us dolls in 2013!
  2. A pair of black Mary Janes, any style that you’d like. They’re a fantastic staple to have in a girl’s shoe closet.
  3. A new dress. Holiday themed in shimmering gold is a great idea.
  4. Golden hair bows. Lots of them. The more, the merrier as shiny things are a girl’s best friend.
  5. And to top it all off, a cute cardigan to keep your warm while you’re out in the freezing cold.

What kind of holiday gifts are you looking forward to and have on your holiday list, fellow dollies? Please share so I can add some to mine!

Until next time, stay fashionable!

Love, Sophie: When Your Human Plays Favourites

So I have this Human, you know, who seems to forget that I am the sole reason that she decided to go on to collect more Blythes. And I am the reason that she ended up getting “Princess Prim” (gag me). But yes, my loyal readers, you all read her admissions that she plays favourite and that she would leave me behind in a fire if it came to it. And even worse, I found out that she had been buying gorgeous dresses and keeping them from me.

Case in point? Proof!

Like a princess.

See? She’s always “blah blah blah, KENNERS” when she should really be focusing on me because I am the reason for everything. I don’t think it’s too much to ask that she acknowledge this on a regular basis with material goods, is it? She spends so much of her time with the precious Kenners and fixing their hair and making sure that they have new things to wear. And what do I have to wear? I’ve been wearing the same outfit for a week, you guys! This is cruel and unusual punishment! (I won’t be showing a photo of that, I cannot bear to be more humiliated to my peers!)

I hope you are all being taken care of much better than my Human does when it comes to me. And if you have any tips to make your Human care about you more than those pesky old and cracked “vintage” dolls, let me know! I may have to hold a garage sale when my Human isn’t looking and get rid of them, Toy Story style.
