Love, Sophie: On Being Me

Hello, my little fashionistas!

I thought I’d share a little information about myself. It’s not often that a doll such as myself gets to run a successful fashion column, so I should share some information about myself!

A little Sophie love <3

My name is Sophie and I’m a Cappuccino Chat Blythe. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering how such a darling model such as myself ended up writing a fashion column… And the truth is, I didn’t want to do it at first. If you saw my paycheque, you’d understand why. I’m the first of the Blythes here at Michelle’s house. I’m the only one that she bought in person. That’s a pretty big deal. And it’s because of my sheer awesomeness that she decided to get my other sisters (you’re welcome!). Without me, there would be no other Blythes in this house, there would be no blog.

The amazingness that is me is something to behold, isn’t it?

Princess Sophie

On a day to day basis, I spend a lot of time browsing forums like Blythe Kingdom. I particularly like to go shopping, and I keep tabs on how much funds Michelle has available. I also check to see if she’s been buying stuff for that pink one. There’s no way that she’s spending more money on that kid than she is on me. I’m the best, after all! I’m the only one who gets to wear this helmet, and I don’t need to tell you how awesome it is, I’ll let the photo do the talking:

My humble beginnings… Even in box life, I was fashionable!

Now, I haven’t always had a luxurious life. I spent a long time waiting for Michelle to come along and rescue me. I had to spend a good chunk of time living in a box – do you know how demeaning that is? I’ve made up for it though. Now I have a fashion column, fantastic clothes and a shoe closet to die for – I will be sharing more fabulous shoes in future posts by me! When I’m not writing blogs, I get to try one new clothes, Skype with some fantastic fashion icons around the world and spend money(!) on fantastic things. Like squishy boots. Fact: every doll needs squishy boots. If your human doesn’t believe you, refer them to this post. Human, your doll deserves squishy boots!

Stay fashionable! Until next time…

Love, Sophie: Spring Fashion Must-Haves

Hello, lovelies! It’s time for another installment of your absolutely favouritest column in the world: Love, Sophie! And I’m, of course, your host!

Now that it’s finally spring  (in the Northern Hemisphere), you need to start dressing appropriately to go with the seasons. It’s time to put away those winter coats and big ol’ hats and get something cute on. And I’m all about the cute! So here are my top 5 fashion must-haves – in no particular order – for spring!

#1. Cute skirts. Notice I said skirts – not pants or shorts, but skirts. It’s spring time! You need something you can flounce around properly in.

The one who started it all

#2. Cute dresses. See what I wrote above about flouncing? Totally applies here!

223/365 - And where do you think you're going, missy?

#3. Cute shoes. Shoes are fantastic because they can add a pop of colour in your life. See mine? Darling, aren’t they?

Don't drop me!

#4. Cute sunglasses. Nobody looks cute when they squint! This is a rule. Thou shalt not go out in the sunshine without sunglasses. Plus UVA and UVB protection for your eyes! It’s a win-win!

Who's that girl?

#5. Cute leggings. Leggings are awesome. But leggings are not pants. Repeat this with me: leggings are not pants. Tights are also not leggings, ergo tights are not pants. Now that we have that sorted out, wear them! With your cute skirts and dresses!

80/365 - Go to clinical with this pen!
Don’t be like Eden. Put on pants!

Stay fashionable! Until next time…

Love, Sophie: Dealing with Little Sisters

Hello Sophie fans!

It’s a miserable Wednesday around here these days. I think you’ve all been introduced to some of my sisters before.  I’m not talking about the old broods that have been talked about over and over again, I’m talking about my younger sisters. Most notably Eden Mouse. She’s young, she’s immature, she’s territorial with her clothing and shoes. Plus, Michelle got in a cute pair of boots and then she stole them from me because “Ohhh, it’s pink! Everything pink is mine!” like that means something. I don’t know where she gets off doing things like that all the time. Little sisters are difficult to live with – so I’ve decided to share some ways that I deal with my younger sisters.

149/365 - So you gotta play the mommy, and I play the kid... - 1/3

  • Be the ‘bigger person’ – figuratively. Michelle is more likely to let me have the new clothes first (which she should anyways…) if I’m nice the others. I don’t know why being nice is a necessity, but it gets me new clothes and she’s more likely to make things for me if I ask (nicely).
  • Hide all their toys. I hide away Eden’s toys so she can’t ask me (or the others) to play dolls with her. I don’t understand why she thinks that I would play with dolls. I’m a model and an occasional blogger – I don’t have time to play with dolls!
  • Send them off on a wild goose chase. Best thing ever. I tell Eden I can’t find something random (that I don’t own) and then get her to help me find it. It keeps her occupied for hours on end and gives me peace of mind and a quiet place to hang around because she’s not yammering on and on about how “great” the colour pink is. There’s only so much one can stand listening to how great pink is and how she’s got another pair of pink boots.

Love, Sophie: Giving Back

Written on December 14, 2012 at 12:00 pm by Michelle

In the spirit of the holidays, whatever you may celebrate, I’d like to remind you all to give back if you can to others! Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean buying more stuff for your dolls – although I’m sure your dolls would greatly appreciate it (I know I would!).

In the province of British Columbia, there are a lot of people who don’t get enough to eat on a regular basis. Half of those people are children. I’m forever grateful that I’m a doll and that I don’t need to eat (although Re-ment waffles are delicious!), but I know that Michelle needs to eat and she’s thankful that she has food to eat. She’s also thankful for Blythe too, because I’m just that awesome (Stick with the program, Sophie! – Michelle). People who live below the poverty line are always struggling for food, but with dipping temperatures, it makes it harder than ever to put food on the table, stay warm and make sure their kids have a little something for the holidays. Because nothing sucks more than believing that Santa gives toys to good little boys and girls and not getting anything because your parents couldn’t bribe Santa well and the bully at school gets a new iPod.

So in the spirit of giving, I’d like to remind people to pick up an extra can of food or something if you can while you’re at the grocery store. Or maybe the next time you’re getting a new Monster High or Lalaloopsy doll to get something else too! Kids may not need a Blythe, but a basic Barbie doesn’t cost that much, neither does a can of soup, a jar of peanut butter or a nice fluffy teddy bear to put a smile on a kid’s face.

If you’re looking for somewhere great to donate, here’s some places to consider checking out:

Giving back is fashionable and I’m all about staying fashionable. Until next time!

Love, Sophie: Winter Fashionista Tips

Hello, Sophie fans!

I’m back again with a look at the great winter wear that is available for us out there in dolly world. I live in the cold, cold world that is Canada (stereotypes – I encourage them) and I have since 2009. So I’m here to tell you all about what kind of fantastic winter clothing the brilliant dolly fashionistas can wear when you’re out in the cold weather. I bribed asked Michelle to help me out with this photoshoot, and here are the outfits that I came up with!

Be winter ready with a good pair of boots! White and black is always fashionable. So are furry boots!

A good winter coat can keep you warm, be fashionable, and frame the perfect dress to draw attention to you. No need for ‘loud’ prints, you want your coat to be the frame to the artwork that is your outfit.

Sometimes you just need a new-to-you dress to feel good! Don’t overdress for parties. You’ll get overheated and feel miserable. Or so I hear. Dolls don’t actually produce body heat, just so you know.

Sunglasses are fantastic, especially when there’s snow! The snow makes everything brighter and that can be hard on the eyes. Get a good pair, something with UV coating and fashionable!

It’s okay to be silly from time to time. A good animal-themed hat can keep your noggin warm when you’re out and about. Same goes for a comfy cardigan.
