QOTW: How do you cure the “fever”?

A lot of people in the Blythe community refer to their intense want (or need, depending on who you ask!) of a particular type of Blythe as having a fever. The way you lust after a particular doll and spend your time on Flickr looking up photos of that doll, you join the Flickr groups for those dolls, favourite all the fantastic photos that you see and then comment on all of them about how much you want the doll because she’s just so cute.

Kenner fever, Kozy fever, Goldie fever, Mondie fever, BL fever, PAM fever, fever for a particular custom doll.

I’ve had it before, Kenner fever. But I cured Kenner fever by getting a Kenner and while it was effective, it’s not necessarily the cheapest option there is. Kenners are expensive – so far Kozy, Goldie, Mondie, most of the BLs and certainly PAM. Blythe isn’t a cheap hobby, but what do you do when you decide that you want/need a particular Blythe?

How do/did you cure the fever?

Just go with it! Money is for spending. If focusing your attention on what you desperately want takes your mind off the less enjoyable aspects of your life then why not. Just bear in mind that sometimes when you get something you’ve lusted after forever you may feel oddly bereft despite having it. You miss the hunt. But then you find a new obsession and it starts again.

I always say: “if you see it and you like it, go ahead and buy it” 😉

Ohmygod, I LOVE that. Haha! I staved off Aztec fever with a lesser expensive T42, but then wound up getting Aztec and selling her. That taught me that it’s best to go for what you want…but I still wound up buying a Rosie Red BL while on a Kozy hunt. I LOVE my rosie, and she led to me finding my Kozy. For now, I have decided to cure Parco fever with, um, a second Kozy. Haha.

Ugh. I pine for a Gentle River. Love her hair. And her stock. But she’s so dang expensive. I have been tempted to buy a fake that has similar hair, but just can’t seem to do it. I think I’m just gonna have to save up for the real deal!
