QOTW: Your preferred travel companion?

One of my favourite doll companions for taking along with me when I go for hikes or car rides is surprisingly not a Blythe doll. It’s not even a Middie or a Petite. Who is it, you ask? My Petworks Usaggie, Kanin:

This is possibly because there’s no hair for me to worry about, and the fact that he consistently wears the same thing all the time so there’s no outfit changes necessary. If I am bringing a doll of the Blythe variety along, I tend to gravitate towards Eden Mouse (because I love her). Lately, I have also been gravitating towards one of the fraternal twins (Mollie & Moxie). Their bright hair colours are just so cheerful!

BlytheCon Vancouver has Taken Over

Seeing as how BlytheCon Vancouver is happening on August 9th, it’s probably not surprising that BlytheCon Vancouver has taken over. Over the last couple of weeks I rolled an incredible amount of 1:6 scale yoga mats (they will be partnered with a donation from SupaBonbon), because yoga is an activity that many Vancouverites participate in and occasionally attempt to close major bridges for (the event never happened, the public were not pleased about it). There’s also been just a lot of juggling of activities behind the scenes in terms of figuring out which vendor goes where – I have that lovely job, which I actually find quite enjoyable at this time.

I finished rolling the 1:6 yoga mats. Everyone's goodie bag will have one! #blytheconvancouver

The other organizers and myself have been busy finalizing details, organizing donations that have arrived (and featuring the donations/donors and vendors on the website: blytheconvan.com), as well as having fun! If you want to join in the fun, it is not too late to get your tickets online and to see about entering a contest or two! We have some really amazing prizes and I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone! It should be a lot of fun!

Dolls for Dolls

One of the nice things about having a collection of small toys is that they make great photo props with Blythe dolls. I’m very fond of photos of Blythe dolls with the mini Lalaloopsy dolls because it looks very sweet when dolls have dolls that are sized appropriately. And then there’s the not quite to scale plush that also make for fantastic photos, and the furniture that I can put the dolls on.

20150624“This is my dragon and my dolly. Do you want to play with me?”

There’s something fun about setting up a photo with toys that aren’t Blythe – just for something different. And if you have a dragon figurine? All the better to include it in. Who doesn’t love a good Blythe and dragon photo? But my favourite doll to put with Blythe would have to be the mini Lalaloopsy, she slightly edges out the My Little Pony figurines that I have.

What are your favourite dolls for dolls? Do you have mini Lalaloopsy dolls for your Blythes?

QOTW: Ratio of Bangs or No-Bangs?

Written on June 22, 2015 at 12:00 pm by Michelle

Blythe comes in a variety of hair styles and hair colours, and most recently a family member commented on how I have more dolls with bangs than dolls without bangs. It was in that moment I actually had to take stock of what dolls had bangs and which ones didn’t.

With bangs: 7 Neos, 2 Middies = 9

Without bangs: 5 Neos, 3 Kenners = 8

20150622There’s just something about Middies with
bangs that make them look infinitely cuter.

Pretty even (and oh-em-gee, when did I get so many dolls?!) overall, if I do want to even it out the next doll would need to be without bangs. I do think that I prefer dolls with bangs though, because it’s just easier than sorting out side parts (or centre parts), but some of my personal favourites in the collection are without bangs.

Do you have more dolls with bangs or without bangs?
