106/365 - Does the camera add 10lbs?

Pre-Blythe, I took photos of nature, people, for parties and family gatherings. After discovering Blythe, I had more opportunities to take photos.

I learned about white balance, contorting myself into odd angles to get a good photo, about lighting and using macro for small, close objects. I’ve learned about focusing, zoom, and I’ve added more to my photo editing skills than I previously knew. Blythe is a willing model, which is nice. Blythe is easier to control than a person is. Somewhat easier to dress (besides tights…), and Blythe probably has a more extensive wardrobe than any person possibly ever well. Lately (pretty much every since I got a smartphone), most of my photos have been Instagram photos, or directly uploaded to Flickr from my phone. It’s a bad habit to get into, but a habit nonetheless.

You have such interesting posts! I am currently obsessing about learning the art of photographing Blythe. I have a LOT to learn yet 😀

Blythe has definitely made me want to learn more about using a SLR camera. My uncle was a photographer (well still is) and he came over one day and saw me crawling on the grass taking photos of a doll. He gave me his old camera, and a macro lens and showed me how to use white cardboard to lessen shadows. Then I started reading the Ken Rockwell tutorials on the Nikon D200 to learn what the functions on my camera are.

I have also had a friend who is amazing at dolly photography give me tips! I still find that unless the light is perfect my photos look like crap, I need to learn how to adjust my camera to the situation, instead of waiting until it is nicely overcast before I take pics. Full sunlight is the enemy lol.

Because of Blythe I became interested in photography. I bought my first DSRL when I received my first Blythe. I also took a photography class. I learned so much not just by taking that class but by reading how to books. I am always looking for ways to improve my photography.
