Weekly Posting Schedule

Why hello, there! I know Sunday isn’t usually a day that I post on, but I’ve been asked a few times about what sort of schedule that I keep with posting so I thought I’d do a post for you all.

I generally have posts going up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I recently added the Shopping Saturday feature which, as the name suggests, goes up on Saturdays. But here is my current schedule, it’s always subject to change, but I do try to stay consistent with what goes up on what day. I’m always willing to consider new features or series if anyone has any suggestions (send me an email at michelle@blythelife.com or use the Suggestions page).

  • Sundays – generally posts do not go up on Sundays aside from exceptions like this post
  • Mondays – usually Question of the Week, unless replaced with something else
  • Tuesdays – day of rest/no posts usually
  • Wednesdays – usually Blythe On A Budget, unless replaced with a mini-series (like the Doll Blogging series or Treasures for Dollars series)
  • Thursdays – day of rest/no posts usually
  • Fridays – Various things go up on Fridays that include, but is not limited to, Freebie Friday Five (generally last Friday of each month), interviews and/or giveaways, articles, random thoughts/musings. I’m hoping to include some more tutorials on the site that will probably go up on Fridays (if not Wednesdays).
  • SaturdaysShopping Saturday

So, with the addition of Shopping Saturday, you can expect to see an average of 3-4 posts per week. I’m always open to guest posts (check out how you can contribute) and doing interviews, so be sure to get featured on BlytheLife.

Are you a new(ish) crafter, customizer or blogger?

In 2011 I did a March Talent Showcase and this year I want to do the same thing! March 2012 will be a month of showcasing new talent in the dolly community. The only qualifications there are that you have to have been doing whatever it is that you do for one year or less. It’s all about showcasing you and what you do; and to also introduce the readers to new talent in the community, which I think is an important thing to do.

In March 2011, I showcased a new customizer, a fabric designer, a clothing shop and a fun handcrafted headband maker. I hope to do something similar this year by showcasing a variety of new talent.

I heart Rob & Sioux
Belarus and I would love to do an interview with you!

The interview process is really simple and takes place via email. Most interviews are 9-12 questions long and you can send me whatever relevant photos you want included (if photos are not taken by you, please get permission from the photographer[s] prior to sending me the photos with links to photographers).

If you are interested, please head over to the How to Get Featured page and let me know! Please include links to any blogs/sites/shops/pages that you want me to look at so I have an idea of what to ask you and be sure to mention that you want to take part in the March Blythe Talent Showcase!

Coming Soon: Shopping Saturday

I know that there is a lot of talent out there when it comes to the dolly community and I also know that many people have Etsy or Artfire shops. One of the great features of having an online shop is that people give out coupon codes from time to time! In a way to help the wonderful talent in the community get some promotion, I’m implementing Shopping Saturday.

If you (or someone you know) is an online shop owner, all you need to do is email me (or fill out this handy form) with the name of your shop, the URL to the shop, the coupon code (case-sensitive!), what the coupon code is for (percentage off, dollar amount off, free shipping, etc.) and also when the coupon code expires. To be eligible for your website to be linked to the post for Shopping Saturday, your coupon code must be active/valid for the entire weekend that it will be posted.

As long as your submission for Shopping Saturday is received by noon (Pacific time) on the Friday before the Saturday, your coupon code will be plugged.

I hope you will enjoy this new feature and hopefully it doesn’t hinder anyone’s resolutions for less dolly spending this year.

If you are interested in gaining more exposure for your website or shop, you’re also welcome to check out how you can advertise with BlytheLife.com.

Hard at work!

Are you looking for something to do? Maybe you’re itching to share something about dolly-life/Blythe? I’m always looking for contributions here at BlytheLife.com

Guest authors receive full credits and multiple linkbacks to their own blogs (or Flickr or online shop pages). In the past there have been sewing tutorials and pitches done to thank people in the dolly community for their support. There are a lot of things that you could contribute to the website.

To get an idea of examples of what you can contribute, check out the How to Contribute page! If you come up with something that I do not have listed, I’m definitely willing to consider all ideas. There’s also a page on article guidelines, if you’re interested in writing an article.

If you have any questions about contributing to BlytheLife.com, be sure to send me an email at michelle@blythelife.com.

Advertise on BlytheLife.com

New to the website is advertising spots. I’ve received more than a few emails asking if I’m open to having ads on the website. I am, because getting some help with hosting costs would be fantastic and I could also use some funds for prizes in giveaways. At the same time, I am going to be selective about what kind of ads will be featured on the website. I want to keep the ads on BlytheLife.com doll related. That can be ads to any kind of website provided it’s related to Blythe or dolls.

If the advertisement images are inappropriate, they will not be used and refunds will be issued. Advertising images should be tasteful, feature no nudity and showcase your work. If you need an advertisement image created for you, you may request one ($10/image) and provide the image(s) you want used.

There will be 3 advertising spots per month in two different sizes (1 large, 2 small). All advertisement spots will be on the sidebar. They will appear on the sidebar of all pages and posts of BlytheLife.com.

Advertising will be available for one month at a time. There is a small discount for multi-month purchases and can be paid for via Paypal in USD funds.

I am taking applications via the Advertisement page form for spots for January 2012. If you want to reserve an advertising spot for future months, you can also indicate that as well.

Large – 1 spot available (325×200 pixels)

  • $10 – 1 month
  • $18 – 2 months
  • $26 – 3 months

Small – 2 spots available (160×160 pixels)

  • $5 – 1 month
  • $9 – 2 months
  • $13 – 3 months
