I will be the first to admit that in the beginning, I didn’t really “get” the appeal of reroots done in natural fibres. This was partly because I was new to the hobby and I just adored my dolls with their ‘natural’ (stock) hair instead, and partly because I had never seen a doll with a natural fibre reroot in person, or had the opportunity to touch/pet a natural reroot. Of course, this all changed once I got to know people in the hobby (and those people let me touch their dolls). An alpaca reroot that a local friend made felt like petting a kitten.
Most of my dolls are (surprise, surprise) stock, but I do have a couple of custom dolls now and two of them have reroots. Halo has a mohair (?) reroot – it’s like a white fluffy cloud on her head. The other is Lark, whom I believe (based on feel) has an alpaca reroot because it feels just like a kitten. And I genuinely still love the stock dolls with their stock hair, but I can’t deny the appeal of reroots made with mohair or alpaca (or other natural fibres!). There’s just an softness to them that cannot be duplicated by synthetic materials, which is what saran and nylon are.
Do you have any dolls with natural fibre reroots? What kind of animal hair is on your dolls’ heads?

I admit to playing favourites, and that spills into who gets what clothes too! Sad for some of my dolls, but a wonderful bonus for the others as it means that they get special clothes all to themselves. For instance, I (generally) buy pink things for Eden Mouse because pink is her thing. This holds true for dresses, shirts, pants, shoes, skirts (although I don’t have many), and tights. Cameo gets all the kitty things, although this was really started unintentionally and has resulted in a small but kitty-covered collection of doll clothes. And then there’s Lottie. I have no clue what her ‘theme’ is, if she has a theme, but she happily got special dresses all to herself when she arrived.
Do certain dolls in your Blythe family get special just-for-them outfits?

In case you haven’t liked BlytheLife.com on Facebook yet, I shared a survey on social media last week! This survey is about fakes (counterfeit) Blythes and your thoughts/opinions on them. I’m still in the data-gathering stages and would love to get more participants before I go through and publish the results. The more people participating, the better!
It’s a very short survey with mostly yes/no options, and shouldn’t take you more than five minutes to fill out (unless you get really wordy with the last question). Please take the time to fill this out – I will be publish the results here on BlytheLife soon!
Click here to fill in the survey!
All participants are anonymous – I have no way of figuring out who you are unless you decide to leave your name in one of the fill-in-the-blank options.

I finally unboxed my Intensive Care Petite and I’m so happy about it. While I’d love to give her a change of clothes, it appears as though her hat is firmly stuck on. There’s quite a thick piece of plastic that seems to be holding her hat on, and it seems to go through her scalp. So she will remain in her outfit indefinitely, at least for the time being – and here some Chickadee spam!
