QOTW: Inspirations behind a name?

So last week I posted about trying to decide on a name for my Monique Magnifique. The poor thing had a Flickr set naming her Nameless, after all! How embarrassing is that?! Poor thing, she can’t even show her face.

But luckily for her, I finally decided on a name for her. Internets, please say hello to… Cedar.

It’s a good thing you don’t have kids, lady.

Named for the lovely red cedars that grow in these parts and the fact that she also looks fantastic in green. And therefore she reminds me of a tree.

This is why I should not be allowed to name people or animals. Dolls are okay, because they typically don’t grow to resent you for your poor name choices. Hopefully.

What inspirations draw you to a specific name?

I usually have to have some time with them before I can name them as well. I have a middie that was here a couple of weeks before I could name her. It wasn’t until I received her new body that her name came to me 🙂

I love the name Cedar. I would never resent you for naming me such an awesome name. I have a new girl coming next week. Although I had promised myself that I wouldn’t name her until I got her, her personality is so evident from her face that I’m pretty sure she will be a Georgie-Girl. I don’t intend on having a super-sized collection, so I usually name my dolls after people or literary characters that I admire. But I just like the name Georgie. One doll I named because I wanted something Celtic and found a name that meant “feisty little bear.” That was so cute that I couldn’t resist.
