Hello my faithful fans!
Welcome to another installment of “Love, Sophie”, my awesome column here at BlytheLife.com! Today I will be discussing something that not all dolls might be comfortable discussing – the importance of underwear! Now, I know a lot of us don’t get much say when it comes to what we wear and how we wear it, but it’s up to us dolls to take a stand and not just stay on the stand. We have a voice, and we’re capable of using them.
When we’re “unboxed”, we come with underpants on. Some of us come with nicer underpants than others. Some come with plain white underpants while others, such as myself, came with nice champagne coloured underpants that are much higher class and stylish. Some dolls that get sold “second hand” or “used” might not come with underpants, and that is a travesty, an absolute travesty! Some well-meaning human-types have taken it upon themselves to decide that we dolls don’t need underwear. I don’t think they’ve considered the fact that we do. The humans wear underwear, most of the time, but they’re not us! The humans sometimes think that our underwear gets in the way of their dressing us, like it’s our fault that they can’t put together full outfits without making us go commando.

Hello, Sophie fans!
Yes, I’m back again and I’m here to talk about all things accessories!
I love accessories, they can really make or break an outfit. Some people don’t think that accessories are important (*cough*Michelle*cough*), but they are! Everyone should have a great purse, a pair of sunglasses or something stylish on their wrist.
My goal here today is to show off my top faves when it comes to accessories and hopefully you’ll agree with me! I love shiny things, sparkly things (there is a difference, right?) and the prettier, the better! If you’re an only child, I greatly envy you. I have to share things with eleven sisters. That’s a lot of sisters! It’s hard work to make sure that other people aren’t touching my shoes or coats or dresses. I have to share and it’s so hard sometimes. Luckily my sisters are usually pretty okay with not touching my sunglasses.

So I have my favourite dotted scarf, a bunch of Wubba Chickens, my laptop (very important for blogging!), a great pair of sunglases, some little bracelets, my cd player and a nice big hat for those bad hair days (but I don’t usually have bad hair days). What are some of your favourite accessories and fun things?
Until next time, stay fashionable!

Sophie is a mostly stock Cappuccino Chat that came to live with me in June 2009. She loves shoes, new clothes, playing with her hair, fashion, magazines full of fluff and shopping. She aspires to be a model and would like to model for some of the ‘great’ dolly fashion houses one day.

The last Friday of every month is part of a feature on BlytheLife.com, Friday Five. Welcome everyone to this month’s installment! I mention 5 things I love every month..
If you have any suggestions for next month’s Friday Five, please don’t hesitate to email me! Maybe you have a site you think that I should feature or a pattern that’s free and up on the web? Tell me!
For the month of October I wanted to focus on fun crafts that you can do indoors, now that the weather has turned cold (at least around here!). I hope you like what I’ve found helpful!

- I came across a YouTube video on how to make a doll (Barbie) sized couch – pretty neat and Blythe can use somewhere to sit, right? The video directions use glue a lot, but you could sew the pillows and cover it a little bit better, but it’s a great tutorial!
- If you like to take photos of your Blythe, you might want to consider making a photo backdrop and I found a great tutorial on how to do that.
- This tutorial shows you how to make a mohair wig for ‘fashion dolls’, which can be adapted for Blythe’s big noggin! It can also be used for BJDs or other dolls that you have around that need some hair.
- For your twins or sisters, you can make a bunk bed for the tired little angels. Here’s the other video mentioned (on making doll bedding).
- The last DIY video I have to show you is on crafting a doll vanity! You need to have captions on in order to get the instructions for the tutorial.
If you know of a site, group or activity that you think I should highlight in next month’s Friday Five, let me know! Comment below or email me.

Halloween is a fun holiday where you get to dress up as something spooky and then collect candy from strangers. Blythes, however, are unable to go door to door soliciting sweets from people that they don’t know – but they can still dress up! Last year, one of my dolls was dressed as a squid for Halloween:

This year, my local Blythe group is having another Halloween meet-up! And while I don’t want to entirely spoil my girls’ costumes for the meet that is happening this weekend, here are the costume ideas that I considered (and later rejected):
- Vampire – deemed too scary
- Ghost – rejected due to being too generic
- Hobbit – no one was willing to have the necessary hairy feet
- Police officer – if you have the stock outfit from Love Mission, this is a very easy costume to pull off!
- Ballerina – deemed not scary enough
What kind of crazy goblins and ghouls are your little angels dressing up as this year for Halloween?

Who here has heard of Pinterest? I bet a lot of hands just went up!

Pinterest is a fun site where you can “pin” things to your “boards” – virtual bulletin boards where you never run out of room or thumbtacks, how awesome is that? If you haven’t already managed to get sucked in, you should probably run away – and run fast! It’s can be very addicting, so if you don’t want to spend copious amounts of time on the internet (or on your phone – there are Pinterest apps for Apple & Android), look away!
But for those that do love virtual bulletin boards and the idea of being able to “pin” tutorials, favourite photos and more – there’s a Pinterest account out there waiting for you.
I personally have a board dedicated to Blythe where I “pin” (usually I “repin” photos/ideas that others have found first) so I can keep everything together and look back at it one day (one of these days).
If you have a Pinterest account and you pin Blythe things, let me know your screen name!
