I’m all about giving back to the doll community when possible, and part of that involves celebrating you and what you do here on BlytheLife.

I love interviewing people in the Blythe community – ranging for seamstresses for our favourite fashionistas, knitters and crocheters, customizers, and all-around amazing people. I’ve interviewed a grand variety of people in the community, and would like to feature you as well! If you’re interested (or want to gently prod someone my way), check out the page about Getting Featured. If you do something else for Blythe that hasn’t been mentioned, I still want to interview you! I love getting to do interviews.
If you run a shop online where you sell things for Blythe, and you happen to have a sale, be sure to submit it to Shopping Saturday! If you submit it, I will post it and share your sale with all of my readers.

Blythe dolls will take centre stage in Australia as part of the highly anticipated Once Upon a Blythe international doll exhibition on show at Auguste Clown Gallery from 20th February – 9th March.
Featuring a storytale range of customised dolls on display and for sale, Once Upon a Blythe pays tribute to the big eyed beauty of Blythe while showcasing the finest talent in Blythe doll customization and artistry.
The original Blythe doll was released in 1972 by Kenner Toy Company in the United States, Japan and Australia. Forty years on, Blythe dolls continue to inspire artists, designers and photographers to recreate her look and personality again and again.
The Once Upon a Blythe exhibition will bring together the work of more than 30 doll artists from around the world and celebrate Blythe as the much loved collectable and fashion icon she has become.
“Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Blythe. She was known by all as the fairest in the land and people would travel from far far away to come and admire her. With curiously large eyes and a magical never ending wardrobe, Blythe loved to dress up and go on adventures. Fearless and fashionable, she lived happily ever after…”
Once Upon a Blythe Exhibition

Presented by Auguste Clown Gallery

If you are a customizer, a tiny shoemaker, a dolly dress seamstress, or an overall amazing person who does something else that’s fantastic for Blythe – consider vending at BlytheCon Vancouver! BlytheCon Vancouver, happening on August 9 2015, is the first BlytheCon held in Canada! And we’re super excited about it and would love if you were vending because you are awesome.

There is just three weeks left to apply – the deadline is January 31st. If you have any questions about BlytheCon Vancouver or about vending, you can email those questions in and I, or one of the other organizers, will get back to you as soon as possible. If you don’t have any questions and want to get straight to applying, head on over to the BlytheCon Vancouver vendors page!

As 2014 wraps up, I wanted to share some of my favourite posts and moments that I had written this year, in no particular order:

The Blythe community has been taken by storm by the use of Mimi Bobeck bodies in hybrid custom Blythes. I talked about the phenomenon over in Chubby Blythe: Mimi Bobeck x Blythe Hybrid.

This year, I started A Beginner’s Guide as a way to go back to the beginning and share what I’ve learned over the years about Blythe. So far, my favourite post for the series is A Beginner’s Guide: Different Molds.

In August, I had the pleasure of heading to Seattle and going to BlytheCon and I wrote about it in my BlytheCon Seattle: Recap! It was a lot of fun and I loved it. Getting to meet up with old friends and connect with new friends was the best part of the experience.

In An Endless Love Affair I waxed poetic about my ultimate favourite Blythe doll: Primrose, the Kenner. Oh yes, I talked about her crazy poof of frizzy hair and I was quite unapologetic about playing favourites.

Tiny Shoe Love began in July 2014 and I do believe that it is a BlytheLife feature that is here to stay: I quite like my doll shoes. My favourite post so far is actually Tiny Shoe Love #4, where I featured squishy pink Barbie boots.

Another new feature that I’m actually quite proud of is DIY Customizing. If you’ve been reading BlytheLife for a while, you know that customizing is just not a think that I willingly do unless absolutely necessary (or if I’m completely confident in my abilities). The first post in the new series was entitled DIY Customizing: Changing Pullstrings (Without Opening the Head).
There were many more posts that I was really happy about, but I felt I didn’t need to toot my own horn that much! What was your favourite post this year from BlytheLife?
Let me know below in the comments!
