My Favourite Posts from 2014

As 2014 wraps up, I wanted to share some of my favourite posts and moments that I had written this year, in no particular order:

20141212a

The Blythe community has been taken by storm by the use of Mimi Bobeck bodies in hybrid custom Blythes. I talked about the phenomenon over in Chubby Blythe: Mimi Bobeck x Blythe Hybrid.

This year, I started A Beginner’s Guide as a way to go back to the beginning and share what I’ve learned over the years about Blythe. So far, my favourite post for the series is A Beginner’s Guide: Different Molds.

In August, I had the pleasure of heading to Seattle and going to BlytheCon and I wrote about it in my BlytheCon Seattle: Recap! It was a lot of fun and I loved it. Getting to meet up with old friends and connect with new friends was the best part of the experience.

In An Endless Love Affair I waxed poetic about my ultimate favourite Blythe doll: Primrose, the Kenner. Oh yes, I talked about her crazy poof of frizzy hair and I was quite unapologetic about playing favourites.

Tiny Shoe Love began in July 2014 and I do believe that it is a BlytheLife feature that is here to stay: I quite like my doll shoes. My favourite post so far is actually Tiny Shoe Love #4, where I featured squishy pink Barbie boots.

Another new feature that I’m actually quite proud of is DIY Customizing. If you’ve been reading BlytheLife for a while, you know that customizing is just not a think that I willingly do unless absolutely necessary (or if I’m completely confident in my abilities). The first post in the new series was entitled DIY Customizing: Changing Pullstrings (Without Opening the Head).

There were many more posts that I was really happy about, but I felt I didn’t need to toot my own horn that much! What was your favourite post this year from BlytheLife?

Let me know below in the comments!

QOTW: Your Resolutions for 2015?

20141229Belarus, the in-house BlytheLife blogger. I just live here.

Every year I think up a nice list of resolutions and honestly, I don’t think I fulfill many of them. I don’t even remember what my resolutions for 2014 were… So this year it will be simple:

  1. Write for BlytheLife, and continue to enjoy writing for BlytheLife.
  2. Continue working away on BlytheCon Vancouver and have fun on August 9th.

Two seemingly simple resolutions. I think I can manage those and remember them!

What are your resolutions for 2015?

An Adoration for All Things Winter

I love a lot of things about the winter season. Snow (even if we don’t get a lot in this part of Canada – shocker, I know), hot chocolate with marshmallows, warm coats, tea, baking, cookies, and more! Winter is definitely one of my favourite seasons for so many reasons. I watch movies, cuddle up under warm blankets, listen to (and sing along) to carols, and get to pull out all the holiday mugs.

A new-to-me Middie showed up under my tree, a Yellow Marshmallow. My first Middie (Jackie Ramone) is named Kitty Brighton – Kitty for the Bennet sister in Pride and Prejudice and Brighton for the town in UK (that I’ve never been to). I decided to name my Yellow Marshmallow after another Bennet sister and after another city.

This is Lydia Melbourne, and she is pleased to meet you.

Did you receive a new doll for the holidays? Who did you get? (I’m nosy!)

Happy Holidays from BlytheLife!

I hope all the good Blythes, Middies, and Petites were rewarded for their niceness this year with gifts for the holidays. If your dolls are anything like Sophie, they have some pretty extensive (and expensive!) wishlists, but I do try to get something for the doll family as a whole.

From all of the Blythes here, and myself, we wish you and yours the very best of the holidays and hope you are warm and happy this holiday season.

Love, Sophie: My Belated Wishlist Edition

You didn’t think that 2014 would end without a post from me, did you?! As the holidays are reaching their peak, Michelle is getting a bit frazzled what with the parties to attend, the gifts to wrap, and the cookies that still need to be baked. There’s just so much to do, and so little time to do it. In this house, we happen to celebrate this odd holiday where a jolly man in a red-and-white suit drops off presents via the chimney to the tree while being carted around the world by a bunch of horses with head-gear. Or something. I don’t really know the specifics, okay? The presents just show up! Anyways…

What do I want this year for the holidays? I’m glad you asked (because Michelle sure didn’t!). I’d love some more dresses. The favourite dress designers in this house tend to be Plastic Fashion and Kult of Kulta.

And maybe some separates too! We love tops (and casual dresses) by erica duh and Luxie Lou, and pants by Blythe Couture and Puppy52 are aces.

Then there’s the shoes. The shoes! We have a lot of glittery shoes (from Jemgirl Creations) that we love (and I absolutely adore, I don’t share if I can help it!) and I think we would benefit from more boots in general. I love boots, and all other tiny shoes.

My secret holiday wish is for Michelle to decide to bring in a new sister. This may seem a bit counter-productive seeing as how I loathe sharing, but whenever we do get a new sister, Michelle goes off on this splurge process where she buys new things! Thus, getting a new sister is good for my wardrobe and shoe closet.

Merry Christmas to all of my wonderful fans! There will be more from me in 2015 as I talk about new fashions and what I think will be awesome!

Sophie is a mostly stock Cappuccino Chat that came to live with me in June 2009. She loves shoes, new clothes, playing with her hair, fashion, magazines full of fluff and shopping. She aspires to be a model and would like to model for some of the ‘great’ dolly fashion houses one day.
